OUR ORIGINS

Established in Gloucester, NSW in 1997 by Justin, Hunter Special Vehicles / Hunter East Coast 4×4 has been a cornerstone of the community for over two decades. Billy, having completed his apprenticeship within the family business alongside Justin, later joined forces with him to establish HEC4x4 in Tuncurry, NSW.

“We pride ourselves on cultivating a dynamic and professional team, whom we consider family, and have remained dedicated to supporting our local community for 26 years combined,” says Billy.

Today, we stand as the go-to local experts for all things 4WD, offering a comprehensive range of services including but not limited to GVM / GCM upgrades, bullbars, towbars, electrical accessories, fuel tanks, suspension upgrades, lighting, and roof racks.

HEC4X4 & THE RFDS

Every year, we proudly support the Royal Flying Doctor Service charity event, ‘The Outback Car Trek’, dedicated to raising funds and awareness for their invaluable work. This challenging trek spans thousands of kilometers through treacherous terrain.

The Outback Car Trek is an annual charity event in Australia, where participants traverse remote outback terrain to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS). The event’s route varies, covering vast distances through challenging landscapes. Participants, including individuals and corporate teams, fundraise for the RFDS, supporting its vital medical services in remote areas. The trek includes social and fundraising activities, fostering camaraderie among participants. Overall, it’s a challenging adventure with a meaningful purpose: supporting healthcare in Australia’s outback.

HEC 4×4 participates in the Outback Car Trek with a deeply personal motivation. Justin’s goddaughter, Mia, who was only 7 days old at the time, experienced a life-threatening situation when her heart stopped while their family was living in Mt Isa. Thanks to the swift assistance of the Royal Flying Doctors Service, Mia was flown from Mt. Isa to receive emergency surgery, ultimately saving her life. This experience deeply impacted Justin and his family, instilling a profound sense of gratitude towards the RFDS. It is this gratitude and a desire to give back that drives HEC 4×4 to participate in this meaningful fundraiser, as they recognize firsthand the vital importance of the RFDS’s services in saving lives across Australia’s remote regions.

As a skilled tradesman mechanic, he specialises in suspension, GVM, electrical setup, accessory selection, compatibility, and virtually all facets of automotive care. Billy ensures that your vehicle not only performs at its peak but also receives personalised attention akin to that of a friend.
Justin, Director: With three decades of expertise in the automotive 4×4 industry, Justin not only leads as our Director but also brings extensive knowledge as a veteran Automotive Technician. His consecutive Hunter apprentice of the year awards underscore his unwavering commitment to excellence.
Jamie: With 17 years of experience, Jamie specialises in ancillary accessory fitting and holds a certification in vehicle body building. He is also currently undergoing a mechanical apprenticeship, showcasing his dedication to continuous learning and improvement. Jamie’s keen eye for detail and problem-solving ability ensures that every aspect of your vehicle’s customisation is executed flawlessly.
Zac: As an apprentice mechanic specialising in electrical ancillary accessories, suspension, and bullbar fitting, Zac brings a unique skill set to our team. With a genuine passion for all things with an engine and wheels, Zac is dedicated to turning his passion into reality through his work.
Mark: With over 25 years of experience as a tradesman automotive electrician, Mark specialises in 12V setups and custom accessory fitting. His craftsmanship and wealth of 4×4 fit-out knowledge add the perfect finishing touches to your vehicle customisation
